Privacy policy
In effect since November 1, 2026
Livramis is a reading app for friends. It is published by Ariel de los Santos, an individual based in Canada, who is responsible for your personal information. This policy says what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, your username, and the name, bio and language you choose.
- What you add: your shelves, reading dates and progress, ratings, private notes, reviews, lists, comments, likes, friends and friend requests, invitations, book clubs and their posts, meetings and votes, reports you send and people you block, and books you add to the catalogue.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a token that lets us send notifications to your phone, and your notification settings.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes, a technical report (the error, the app version, the phone model). It does not include your name, email or what you wrote.
- Technical logs: our servers keep short-lived logs, including IP addresses, to run the service and protect it from abuse.
We do not collect your contacts or your location, we have no advertising and no analytics trackers, and we never sell or rent your information. The camera is used only to read barcodes; the images stay on your phone.
Who sees what
- Your profile is private. Only your friends see your shelves and activity.
- Reviews are public by default, shown on the book’s page with your username; you can make any review visible to friends only.
- Lists are visible to your friends unless you make them private or public.
- Book club posts are visible to the club’s members.
- Private notes are visible only to you.
Why we use it
To provide the app you asked for (your account, your shelves, your friends and clubs), to keep it safe (moderation, reports, blocks, preventing abuse), to fix problems, and to send the notifications you turned on. We rely on our agreement with you (the terms of use) and, for notifications, on your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings or in your phone’s settings.
Who helps us run Livramis
- Supabase hosts the database, sign-in and files, in Canada (Central).
- Google sends sign-in emails (Gmail) and delivers notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Sentry receives crash reports, stored in the European Union (Frankfurt).
- Apple and Google distribute the app through their stores.
- The Internet Archive (Open Library) provides book data and covers. Your phone loads covers from Open Library, which sees your IP address, and a search for a book we don’t have yet may be sent to Open Library.
Some of these companies process data outside Canada, in the United States or the European Union. They act on our instructions and may use your information only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, your account and everything you added are deleted immediately, except books you added to the catalogue, which stay without your name. Server logs are kept for a few days and database backups for up to 30 days, then deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Download a copy of everything you added: Settings → Your data → Download.
- Correct your profile at any time: Me → Edit profile.
- Delete your account in the app (Settings → Your data → Delete my account) or on this website.
- Ask us anything about your information, or make a request we can’t handle in the app, at [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, to the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Person in charge of protecting personal information: Ariel de los Santos, [email protected].
Age
Livramis is for people 14 and older. If we learn that someone younger has an account, we delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
